
Cerm has introduced O2, a cloud-based management information system developed for label, flexible packaging and folding carton converters, initially focusing on small and medium-sized label businesses.
The browser-based platform combines workflow automation, print-industry functionality and an API-first architecture. This approach is intended to support integrations with technology providers, including Esko, Hybrid Software, ABG and Screen. As a cloud-native system, O2 reduces the need for converters to maintain their own IT infrastructure.
Cerm plans to develop O2 progressively rather than replicate the full scope of its established CERM7 platform immediately. The first version will address defined applications for label converters seeking digitisation and automation without the complexity associated with a traditional enterprise-level MIS implementation.
Functionality tailored to flexible packaging and folding carton production will follow during a second phase. The company said subsequent development would enable the platform to support more sophisticated production environments and workflows as customers’ operational requirements expand.
O2 draws on more than 40 years of Cerm’s experience in software for label and packaging workflows. Its existing CERM7 management information system is used by more than 500 companies globally. Cerm said its acquisition of cloud-based MIS provider Omikai in 2025 added technology and cloud-development expertise that helped accelerate the O2 programme.
Jan Heyse, CEO of Cerm, said the company would continue developing CERM7 alongside the new cloud-native offering. He said O2 was designed to reduce customers’ infrastructure and security responsibilities while making Cerm’s packaging workflow knowledge available through a modern technology platform.
O2 is scheduled for its official launch on 15 September at Loupe Americas 2026 in Rosemont, Illinois. Cerm will also demonstrate Lexis, its AI-based sales-order processing agent, together with business intelligence, scheduling, quality-management and traceability systems.
